I hope that you and your friends and family members are staying safe during this difficult time in our society. COVID-19 has truly changed the dynamics of life in just three months. As many of you know, Facing Cancer Together converted from conducting in-person support, wellness, and bereavement groups to virtual groups via Zoom. While Zoom can be challenging, our participants are truly grateful that we are continuing to offer support and connection.
Similar to other non-profits, FCT’s traditional fundraising initiatives have had to be suspended, including our walk/run and art show. To sustain our organization, I’d like to invite you to participate in a new global movement: #GivingTuesdayNow.
This #GivingTuesday was organized in direct response to the impact of COVID-19 on not-for-profit organizations, and provides a safe and straightforward way to support FCT. Also, you can opt to reach out to your employer and ask if they will match your donation to FCT.
I realize many of us have experienced job loss, furloughs, and financial stress, which of course makes financial giving challenging. If finances are limiting your ability to donate, I invite you to share this email with anyone you feel might resonate with Facing Cancer Together’s mission. Spread the word that we are indeed open and accepting new participants into our community of hope.
Lastly, as dark as these days are, I look for the light and beauty in everyday life and hope that each of you can bring your own light and beauty to your family, friends, and community.
