Creating Legacy, Memorial Day Remembrance
Dear Facing Cancer Together Community,
I hope that you and your families and friends are staying safe and finding ways to stay connected. While the challenges associated with coping with a cancer diagnosis have existed prior to the pandemic, it’s clear that grief and fear of the unknown have been deeply amplified by the abrupt introduction of COVID-19 into all aspects of our lives. This is one of the many reasons that I am grateful to FCT’s clinical staff for their commitment to continuing to support our community using the virtual meeting platform, Zoom. It’s been nine weeks since FCT transitioned from in-person to virtual groups. There have been some technical glitches for sure, many of which have been ironed out, but overall group members appreciate staying connected. We are still working through how to improve our participants’ experiences, including the Chinese Brush painting and Writing groups. In the coming weeks, I will be sending a confidential survey to participants regarding their virtual group experiences. Based on the survey feedback, I’ll work with our staff to improve and enhance FCT’s offerings.
Thank you to everyone who have donated to FCT during the pandemic, including those of you who participated in #GivingTuesdayNow. Many thanks to you for your financial support during this difficult time in our society. Your donations are wonderful reminders to me and the clinical team that our community of hope is strong and resilient.
As always, I welcome your comments, suggestions, and feedback.

FCT Website & Creative Corner
I’m very happy and proud to share with you the wonderful artwork and writing in our recently launched Creative Corner. Also, please check out the beautiful banners provided by our very own Chinese Brush Painting instructor, Vartus Varadian. Many thanks to Vartus and Isabel Pinto-Pro, the creative team responsible for integrating art and beauty into FCT’s website.
I hope that each of us can pause for a moment on Memorial Day and remember those who have lost their lives while serving our country. Please keep them in your heart and thank them for their service.
