Facing Cancer Together provides cancer support, caregiver support, diagnosis specific networking and bereavement groups. We believe that people cope with cancer through different ways of expressing themselves: spoken words, written words, movement and creative artistic expression. We help people to learn about the cancer they are experiencing through educational programs. We help them to plan their lives through practical educational programs. We help people to live well through community -- understanding that they are not alone.
Facing Cancer Together also trains professionals to work with people with cancer, couples and families where cancer is having an effect on their lives. We train clinical psychology doctoral students from William James College who do a one academic year practicum placement at FCT facilitating groups and offering individual, couples and family psychotherapy. We support the training of first year Harvard Medical School students in delivering difficult news to their patients through a partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital. We train mental health professionals and others who are working with people with cancer and their family members.
